At just six years old, French schoolgirl Lucie Pichard is already impressing the chess world. An elementary student, she regularly challenges adult players rated around 2000 Elo and holds her own. In most of the videos I saw her competing, she beats everyone.
In early 2026, she claimed the Île-de-France Under-8 championship and finished in the top ten at the French youth nationals.
On Chess.com, she ranks in the top 5% of players her age, where she spends hours honing her game after school. Coached by experienced trainers and supported by her family, Lucie dreams of one day becoming world champion. Her rapid progress and natural talent mark her as one of the most promising young players of her generation.
Will she beat Magnus Carlsen or Wesley So?
Take a look at her beating an adult in this Instagram video.
